Saucy Apple Gingerbread

Serve this warm and flavorful gingerbread made with Original Bisquick® mix and apple pie filling that’s ready in less than an hour!

Ingredients

cup butter or margarine, melted
1/2
cup packed brown sugar
1
can (21 ounces) apple pie filling

cups Original Bisquick™ mix
1/3
cup packed brown sugar
1/4
cup butter or margarine, softened
3/4
cup water
1/3
cup molasses
1
teaspoon ground allspice
1
teaspoon ground ginger
1
egg

Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 350º. Mix melted butter, 1/2 cup brown sugar and the pie filling. Spoon into ungreased square pan, 9x9x2 inches. Place in oven while making batter.
  • 2 Beat remaining ingredients in large bowl with electric mixer on low speed 30 seconds, scraping bowl constantly. Beat on medium speed 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Pour over warm apple filling.
  • 3 Bake 34 to 38 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center of gingerbread comes out clean and top is cracked. Spoon into bowls; serve warm.

Expert Tips

Use dark brown sugar and full-flavor molasses for a gingerbread with a richer flavor and color. Top warm gingerbread with cinnamon ice cream or whipped topping. Peach or apricot pie filling makes a tasty substitution for the apple pie filling.
