Ingredients

Steps

  • 1
In large microwavable bowl, microwave sour cream on High about 1 minute, stirring after 30 seconds, or until instant-read thermometer inserted in sour cream reads 110°F to115°F. Stir in sugar and yeast until well blended.
  • 2
Add 2 1/2 cups of the baking mix to sour cream mixture; stir until dough pulls away from sides of bowl, adding additional baking mix if needed until dough forms a sticky ball. Place dough on work surface sprinkled lightly with baking mix. Knead 5 minutes or until dough is smooth and elastic.
  • 3
Spray bottom and sides of 8- or 9-inch square pan with cooking spray. Divide dough into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball; place in pan. Cover loosely with plastic wrap; let rise in warm place about 30 minutes or until rolls have almost doubled in size.
  • 4
Heat oven to 350°F. Uncover rolls. Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. Spread tops of warm rolls with garlic and herb butter spread. Serve warm.

Tips from the Betty Crocker Kitchens

  • tip 1
Why are you heating sour cream? Since yeast needs a warm and cozy environment to rise, heating the sour cream provides the warmth that's needed to get these rolls rising and on the table in no time.
  • tip 2
It's easy to get your rolls the same size with this quick hack: shape the kneaded dough into a nicely shaped round. Using a pizza cutter, cut your round into fourths. Then cut each fourth into 3 equal-size pieces. Now roll the pieces into balls...they will be about the same size.
  • tip 3
To ensure your rolls will look like those in the photo, note the size of your balls before you let them rise, so you can be sure the balls have doubled in size before you bake them.
