My daughter is a huge fan of red velvet desserts, so I am always trying new ways to make treats for her. With the addition of espresso and cream, my latest experiment with brownies turned out extra special and delicious. The combination creates a rich and decadent dessert that looks like a work of art. They are almost too pretty to eat and yet are super simple.

Because I have two teenagers, I don’t always have a lot of time to spend in the kitchen. But a box of Betty Crocker® brownie mix makes this dessert simple to put together.

I have found that the best way to get that beautiful rich red color is by using a 1 ounce bottle of red food coloring that is especially formulated for baking and is sold on its own. (Don’t try using those little bottles of food coloring that come in a pack.) You can find it in the spice aisle near the vanilla and other flavorings. Once you add the bottle to the brownie mix, you will see the deep rich red color come to light!

To achieve the marbleized effect, dollop tablespoons of the cream cheese mixture evenly on top of the brownie batter and then cut through the mixture with a knife a few times.
