The classic party mix you love gets a spicy makeover in this recipe with the added splash of red pepper sauce.
Updated August 8, 2006

Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons seasoned salt
  • 2 to 3 teaspoons red pepper sauce
  • 3 cups Corn Chex™ cereal
  • 3 cups Rice Chex™ cereal
  • 3 cups Wheat Chex™ cereal
  • 1 cup mixed nuts
  • 1 cup bite-size pretzels
  • 1 cup garlic-flavor bite-size bagel chips, or regular-size bagel chips, broken into 1-inch pieces

Steps

  • 1
    Heat oven to 250°F.
  • 2
In ungreased large roasting pan, melt butter in oven. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt and pepper sauce. Gradually stir in remaining ingredients until evenly coated.
  • 3
Bake uncovered 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Spread on paper towels to cool, about 15 minutes. Store in airtight container.

  • Get a jump start on your party preparations. Make this snack up to 2 weeks ahead and store it tightly covered in the freezer or at room temperature.
  • If your goal is to reduce fat in recipes (and whose isn't these days?), use 3 tablespoons margarine, omit the mixed nuts and use fat-free bagel chips.
