These crunchy breadsticks are full of flavor and make the perfect snack.

When my son was about 6 months, we tried introducing him to solids. There are lots of great products on the market, little teething biscuits and crackers for babies that they are supposed to love. My girlfriends gave me tons of great product recommendations, and I went out and bought all of them. But to my disappointment, my son wouldn’t eat any of them.

Then one day, my son grabbed for a Grissini out of the bread basket while we were at an Italian restaurant. I could tell he had fallen in love with the little crunchy Parmesan-coated breadstick from his big happy eyes. After that day, I started making them at home for him. They are a lot easier than I thought they would be.

Grissini are Italian thin crunchy breadsticks baked in the oven. They originated in Northern Italy, and are very popular. You can buy these thin breadsticks pre-packaged in most all grocery stores, but why not try some homemade ones?

To make these, I first made a yeast dough, let it double in size, and then rolled it out and cut the dough into 1/3-inch-thick pieces. Then you bake the sticks in a 400 oven. It really couldn’t be any easier. I coated these breadsticks in Parmesan, but you could also use sea salt, sesame seeds, or cracked black pepper.
