This recipe was in my recipe file; so thought it was a tried a true recipe, plus good. Not. Very bland. Added salt and pepper. Don't know what else I can do with it. Very disappointed. Usually recipes from Betty Crocker are good. Had to add more water as the water had almost evaporated. That made it even more bland.

I prepared this exactly as the recipe says and it was quite bland. It was okay, sort of delicious but definitely not scrumptious. I think next time I may use either a vegetable broth or a ham bone from my butcher, or both.

I can see how this will be good and I will make it again today. Think it may need more water. Woke up to find that most of the water had been absorbed by the beans and that the ham on top dried out. I thought I would be safe with less than 8 hours in pot. I will make sure I keep an eye on it.
