From Betty's Soul Food Collection... Give those green beans a little razzle-dazzle with a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese, some garlic and only 15 minutes of prep time!

cups Green Giant® SELECT® frozen whole green beans

tablespoons butter
1
small clove garlic, finely chopped
1
tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 Cook green beans as directed on bag to desired doneness--except do not season to taste; drain.
  • 2 Meanwhile, in 1-quart saucepan, melt butter over medium-low heat. Add garlic; cook 2 to 3 minutes, stirring frequently, until garlic is tender.
  • 3 Pour garlic butter over cooked green beans; stir to coat. Sprinkle with cheese; toss gently.

Expert Tips

Garlic can burn quickly, and give a harsh, disagreeable flavor. To prevent garlic from burning, cook it briefly over medium-low heat.

A 1-pound bag of Green Giant® frozen cut green beans can be used in place of the whole green beans.

Fresh Parmesan cheese can be substituted for the grated Parmesan. Sprinkle additional cheese on the dish as a garnish.

These are absolutely one of our favorite side dishes. I have made them many times and everyone loves them including very picky children. I highly recomend them.

i have a suggestion, instead of just pouring the garlic butter sauce over the grean beans, saute the green beans in the sauce and watch carefully so it doesnt burn, that would put more flavour into the beans, then top with the cheese.
