Ingredients

  • 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 pound smoked salmon, skinned and boned
  • 4 medium green onions, chopped (1/4 cup)
  • 3/4 cup whipped cream cheese, from 8-ounce container, softened
  • 1/4 cup sunflower nuts, toasted, if desired
  • Crackers, tiny sliced bagels or sliced vegetables, if desired

Steps

  • 1
Mix 8-ounce package cream cheese, the salmon and onions thoroughly. Shape mixture into a ball. Frost with whipped cream cheese. Sprinkle with nuts.
  • 2
Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours until chilled. Serve with crackers. Store tightly covered in refrigerator up to 2 weeks or in freezer up to 4 weeks.

Tips from the Betty Crocker Kitchens

  • tip 1
Use reduced-fat cream cheese (Neufchâtel) for a slightly lighter spread.
  • tip 2
Make a Snowman Salmon Spread! Shape two-thirds of the salmon mixture into a ball and place on serving plate. Shape remaining salmon mixture into a ball and place on top of larger ball. Refrigerate about 1 hour or until firm. Frost with whipped cream cheese. Decorate your salmon snowman with a fresh rosemary crown, olive eyes and buttons, a baby carrot nose, radicchio-strip scarf and asparagus arms.
