cup packed brown sugar

cup butter or margarine, softened

teaspoon maple flavor

cups Gold Medal® all-purpose flour

teaspoon baking soda

teaspoon salt

cup sliced almonds
Maple Icing
1
cup powdered sugar
1/4
teaspoon maple flavor

to 5 teaspoons milk
  • 1 Heat oven to 350°F (if using dark or nonstick pan, heat oven to 325°F). Lightly grease bottom and sides of 13x9-inch pan with shortening or spray with cooking spray.
  • 2 In large bowl, beat brown sugar, butter, maple flavor and egg with electric mixer on medium speed, or mix with spoon. Stir in flour, baking soda, salt and 1/2 cup of the almonds. Pat dough in pan with lightly floured fingers.
  • 3 Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely, about 45 minutes.
  • 4 Meanwhile, in small bowl, stir all Maple Icing ingredients until smooth and thin enough to drizzle. Drizzle cooled bars with Maple Icing; sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup almonds. Let stand 5 minutes or until set. For bars, cut into 6 rows by 4 rows.
