Q: What has surprised you most about the success of your blog?

That people from all over the world write to me every day and share their stories and how much I inspire them. That's been the best and most surprising part to me.

Q: What is it about baking that you love so much?

All of it, including decorating desserts and eating them! But I probably like giving them away the most – sweets always seem to make people smile.

Q: Do you like to cook just as much as you like to bake?

No, I don’t really cook at all.

Q: You were making macarons early on – how do you stay ahead of trends?

I feel like I'm behind on that one – they scared me! I actually wanted to try them for more than a year after seeing them on various blogs.

Q: Do you buy tools and decorations and then think about how to use them, or do you go to the store to get specific things?

I usually decide something new I want to try and then find the supplies at the store to make it happen.

Q: We’re so impressed with your photos, recipes and your blog – plus we hear you have a full-time job! We have to ask, when do you sleep?

I barely sleep. If I can get in bed by midnight I'm doing good, though.

Q: What’s your favorite baking secret you can share?

Cake mixes are awesome! I use boxed mixes and canned frosting because that way I get consistent results and the right texture every time.
