Expert Tips

Add countless twists to this already-flavorful dish when you top with shredded coconut, chopped fresh cilantro, Thai basil leaves or peanuts.

No need to let the other half of the green bell pepper go to waste. Slice it into strips or rings, and use to top sandwiches.

This was easy to prepare but lacked something in flavor. For us it had a slight kick but other than that it was kind of plain. I did find that adding hoisin sauce helped afterwords and I'll probably use that as the base for my sauce next time with some other additions. I also used baby corn, water chestnuts, mushrooms and bean sprouts...you will need to increase the sauce if you are adding more veggies than the recipe above calls for, I doubled it but am thinking triple may have been better. I served it over rice but I'm sure it would be good over chinese noodles to give the dish a different texture.

We enjoyed this recipe. It kind of reminded me of teryaki chicken. I used honey instead of sugar, so that may be where the sweet taste went. Definitly spicy though. Next time I will use reduced sodium soy sauce too.
