Expert Tips

(Total time will vary with appliance and setting.)

Shiitake mushrooms add a wonderful, rich flavor to this easy beef stew. If they aren't available, you can use 2 cups of sliced regular white mushrooms.

To make sure everything is done at the same time, cut the meat and vegetables into the sizes specified in the recipe.

I used Kosher salt instead and added in a beef bouillon too for added flavor.

I really liked this recipe. It was very easy to put together and was ready when I got home from work. My husband loved it and was upset when I sent the left overs home with our neighbors! So, this one is definitely going in my favorites stack.

I was disappointed in how bland this turned out so avoid this recipe if you like savory flavored stews. I'm going to have to get the stew recipe from my boyfriends mom and not use this one again.
