Ingredients

Steps

  • 1
Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pans). Spray bottom only of 13x9-inch pan with cooking spray. Make and bake cake as directed on box for 13x9-inch pan. Cool in pan on cooling rack until completely cooled, about 30 minutes.
  • 2
Spread chocolate frosting on top of cake; sprinkle with chocolate cookie crumbs. Use green icing and a grass piping tip to make garden rows, using photo as guide. Insert toothpick halfway into base of each PEEPS® marshmallow bunny. Insert bunnies, toothpick side down, into cake.
  • 3
Use orange and green icings to make carrots on cake, using photo as a guide. Cut into 4 rows by 3 rows to serve. Remove toothpicks before serving. Store loosely covered at room temperature.

Tips from the Betty Crocker Kitchens

  • tip 1
Add color and variety to your PEEPS® cake by adding a few Easter-colored PEEPS® marshmallow chicks to your garden, too!
  • tip 2
Have extra PEEPS® leftover from your Easter garden cake? Try using them in this recipe for PEEPS® Chick Surprise-Inside Cupcakes. All of your guests will love splitting open the center to see what goodies are inside!
  • tip 3
Rethink the meaning behind a carrot cake with this fun recipe for Carrot Top PEEPS® Bunny Cake. Don't forget to decorate with a ring of PEEPS® all the way around.
  • tip 4
To get a grass effect without the use of a decorating bag and tips, make rows with green icing on top of the cake. Using the tines of a fork, pull up on frosting to get a grass-like look.
  • tip 5
Make your own chocolate cookie crumbs. Place chocolate sandwich cookies in a resealable food storage plastic bag; roll over with a rolling pin to finely crush cookies, to make 1 cup cookie crumbs.
