Jessylovesmike, you may need to cook your milk, cocoa mixture longer. This was the first cookie recipe my grandma ever taught me and now been making it for 25 years! I let my mixture boiled HARD for about 4 minutes. Still my favorite cookie!!! and now I have my husband (who had never had them before) and my 2 year old son addicted to them!!! Jmg1944 I would thin nutella would work fine. It would give it a different flavor but similar texture!

The classic recipe! This is just like the No-Bake Cookies I grew up with! It's SO easy to make, too. If you're having trouble getting them to thicken and set: 1ST, make sure you follow the ingredient measurements EXACTLY, adding at the right stage as noted; 2ND, do not try to rush it by changing the temperature; cook over Medium heat as noted, then after it begins to actually BOIL (not just barely simmer), allow to boil for a FULL minute before removing from heat to add remaining ingredients. If you're still having trouble for some reason, you can add a little extra oats to thicken before spooning. After spooning onto wax paper, allow to cool for at least 1 hour to thicken and set.

I consider myself to be a fairly good baker/cook. I have even mastered a PERFECT oatmeal chocolate chip cookie; fluffy and moist, but no matter how man times I attempt this recipe, I always fail. They always seem to be too watery n cant thicken and set. Any one have any tips?
