Make-Ahead Strata Bake

This simple strata can be thrown together the night before and is ready to serve for tomorrow’s special brunch!

Ingredients

tablespoon butter

cups diced cooked ham

cup chopped onion
6
cups cubes (1 inch) French bread (about 9 oz)
2
cups shredded Colby-Monterey Jack cheese blend (8 oz)

pouch (9 oz) Progresso™ Recipe Starters™ creamy three cheese cooking sauce
1/2
cup milk
1
tablespoon Dijon mustard
1/4
cup sliced green onions (4 medium)

  • 1 Spray 13x9-inch (3-quart) glass baking dish with cooking spray. In 10-inch skillet, melt butter over medium-high heat. Cook ham and onion in butter 3 to 4 minutes, stirring frequently, until onion is soft. Remove from heat.
  • 2 In baking dish, layer half of the bread cubes, half of the ham mixture and 1 cup of the cheese. Repeat layers of bread cubes and ham mixture.
  • 3 In large bowl, beat eggs, cooking sauce, milk and mustard with wire whisk until blended; pour over bread. Press bread down gently so all pieces absorb egg mixture. Top with remaining 1 cup cheese. Cover with foil; refrigerate at least 4 hours but no longer than 24 hours.
  • 4 Heat oven to 325°F. Bake strata loosely covered 40 minutes. Uncover; bake about 20 minutes longer or until top is golden brown and knife inserted in center comes out clean. Sprinkle with green onions.
