When i first tried these cookies they honestly aren't that amazing. Maybe its just me, because im so picky about the things i make. But once i took them to a party, everyone said they loved them. I guess they all thought it was delicious. The cookies themselves aren't sweet. But the peppermint and chocolate frosting is supposed to even it out to make them sweet. Overall, i plan on making them again if they satisfy others.

The cookies looked really good in the picture but mine really didn't look as chocolately. Probably won't make these again

they weren't that good, you can barely taste the sweetness of cookies if they're made properly, and it tasted like hard dough. we added the chocolate part, too, and ugh it was SICKENING! then we added the peppermint, and that made it better. also the cookies didn't expand much, and we followed every step. this is my first recipe that i got from betty crocker, i will try to make these again - but not soon.

Made this cookie today along with my seven other batches. It's pretty good, not a super strong chocolate flavor. They did take a little longer to cook than the time suggested.

This recipe is one that I picked to try for our church's christmas cookie walk. I made one batch of the dough and baked only a couple to try before freezing the remaining dough. They mixed up easily enough, makes a very small amount as you can tell by the measurements. The cookie by itself is on the bland side but after the filling is added I'm sure it will be a tasty cookie. I ate the cookie before adding filling to make sure I liked it enough to add the extra expense of the chocolate and nuts/peppermints/etc. Very light chocolate flavor, soft but definitely needs the added flavor of filling and topping.
