1 Stir ingredients until soft dough forms.
2 Drop by spoonfuls onto boiling stew; reduce heat.

Add flavor to these mouthwatering dumplings by stirring 1 teaspoon of a favorite dried herb into the dough.

Dropping the dough onto meat or vegetables in a boiling stew is the best way to ensure perfectly cooked dumplings.

I made these traditional dumplings tonight with my beef stew. They were tough to mix and kinda hard to get off the spoon, but they turned out really good. They didn't look done after the 20 minutes so I let it simmer about 15 minutes longer and they came out perfect. We were stuffed when we finished with dinner. They tasted just like my moms. Extremely easy to make.

I call these my "never fail" dumplings. The recipe is so simple and easy, I could almost make them with my eyes closed. My husband loves chicken & dumplings and these are the dumplings I usually make.
