large tart cooking apples, thinly sliced

teaspoon ground cinnamon
Topping

box Betty Crocker® Gluten Free yellow cake mix
1/2
cup chopped nuts
1/2
cup butter, softened

teaspoon ground cinnamon
1
egg, beaten
Serve-With
Ice cream, if desired
  • 1 Heat oven to 350°F. In large bowl, toss apples and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Spread apples evenly in ungreased 13x9-inch pan.
  • 2 In large bowl, mix cake mix and nuts. With pastry blender or fork, cut in butter until crumbly. Add 1 teaspoon cinnamon and the egg; mix well. Sprinkle evenly over apples.
  • 3 Bake about 45 minutes or until topping is light brown. Serve warm with ice cream.

Sorry to say I didn't like this. The topping was very dry and the flavor was not what I expect from Apple Crisp. The other recipes I have tried with the Betty Crocker mixes are superb, but I won't do this one again.

I used the regular-gluten recipe, but substituted the wheat flour for almond flour 1:1. I like it better than the original recipe!
