How easy are these apple cinnamon fritters? Impossibly! Thanks to your trusty box of Bisquick™, these crispy treats are ready in just 25 minutes. Chopped Granny Smiths are a great apple to use since they’ll add a pop of tartness to the sweet fritter dough. Just before serving, dust fritters with powdered sugar for a final touch.

Recipe Ingredients

Here are the main ingredients you’ll need to make these Apple Cinnamon Fritters.

Bisquick™ Original Pancake & Baking Mix: Bisquick makes the recipe incredibly quick and easy. It's pre-mixed with all the necessary ingredients to provide structure to the fritters.

Granny Smith Apple: Granny Smith apples are tart, which balances the sweetness of the fritter, and their firm texture holds up well during frying without becoming mushy. Leaving the peel on adds a bit of color and fiber.

Granulated Sugar: Adds sweetness to the fritter batter, enhancing the overall flavor and balancing the tartness of the apples. It also contributes to the browning of the fritters.

Ground Cinnamon: The key spice that gives the fritters their warm, aromatic "cinnamon" flavor.

Egg: The egg helps hold all the ingredients together in the batter.

Powdered Sugar: This is a finishing ingredient, dusted over the cooked fritters. It adds an extra layer of delicate sweetness and provides an attractive, classic presentation.

Other Ingredients You’ll Need: Vegetable oil, cold water

How to Make Apple Cinnamon Fritters

By following these tips, you'll be well on your way to perfectly crispy, golden, and delicious Apple Cinnamon Fritters every time! See the full recipe below for more details.

1. Heat the Oil

Fill the pot with enough vegetable oil so the fritters can float without touching the bottom (usually 2 to 3 cups). The oil temperature will drop when you add cold batter. Adjust the heat as needed to keep it as close to 350°F (use a thermometer) as possible throughout the frying process.

2. Mix the Batter

Stir everything together just until it's blended. Don't overmix! Gently fold the chopped Granny Smith apple into the batter. The batter will be thick.

3. Fry the Fritters

Give each fritter enough space to cook evenly and turn easily. A melon baller or small ice cream scoop can help you get even-sized fritters. Cook until they are golden brown all over.

4. Drain

Remove and place them on paper towels to drain any excess oil, keeping them crispy.

5. Finish and Serve

If you're adding powdered sugar, do it while the fritters are still warm. The warmth helps the sugar adhere and melt slightly, creating a delicious coating.

How to Store (and reheat) Apple Cinnamon Fritters

Apple Cinnamon Fritters are definitely best enjoyed fresh and warm, but you can store them to extend their life a bit. The key is to manage moisture and prevent them from becoming soggy. Important Note: If you plan to store them, do not dust them with powdered sugar until just before serving.

Here's how to store them to keep them as fresh as possible.

Room Temperature

Place the completely cooled fritters in an airtight container. You can layer them with parchment paper in between if you have many, but a single layer is ideal if space allows. They will keep up to 2 days.

Reheating (room temperature)

Place fritters on a baking sheet in a 350°F oven for 5-10 minutes, or until warmed through and slightly re-crisped.

Freezer

Arrange the fritters in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Place the sheet in the freezer for 1-2 hours, or until the fritters are solid. Once frozen solid, transfer the fritters to a freezer-safe airtight container or a heavy-duty freezer bag. Remove as much air as possible from the bag. Freeze for up to 2 months.

Reheating (from frozen)

Place fritters on a baking sheet in a 350°F oven for 15-25 minutes, or until warmed through and slightly re-crisped.
