Who doesn’t love baked potatoes? I know my family does! Some days though, I just don't have time to bake them to perfection in the oven. Fortunately, with just a few minutes of simple prep work in the morning, and a little help from my slow cooker, I can put together a wholesome baked potato bar for dinner with very little effort. Here's how to do it! 2-25-2013-11_4
First, wash your potatoes and pierce each one a couple times with a fork. Next, wrap each potato in a piece of aluminum foil. 2-25-2013-11_1
Place the potatoes in your slow cooker, cover and cook on low for 7-8 hours. (If you have smaller potatoes, aim for the 7 hours; for super-large potatoes, 8 hours.) 2-25-2013-11_2
Shortly before the potatoes are done, set up your toppings. My family likes a variety of 'tater toppers, so I put out some salsa, Green Giant Fresh Valley Steamer Broccoli, shredded cheddar cheese, sauteed mushrooms, bacon, sour cream, chili and fresh chives. The sky's the limit though, when it comes to toppings! 2-25-2013-11_3
After the potatoes are done, invite your family to top their individual baked potatoes with their favorite topping combo. What fun 'tater toppings will you be trying out on your slow-cooked spuds?
