Created January 12, 2017
Here is an easy variation on a Thanksgiving classic, made in your slow cooker.

There are a few foods that are must-haves at our family’s Thanksgiving table. Grandma’s cornbread stuffing, a big turkey, homemade rolls and mashed potatoes are some favorites. Another classic Thanksgiving table item has to be cranberries. It is one of those foods that isn’t THE most popular, but has to be on the table or somebody’s going to be throwin’ a fit. So instead of opening a can of cranberries this year, serve up a slow cooked twist on the classic sauce.

You simply start with a bag of fresh cranberries, which shouldn’t be hard to find at your local grocer during the holiday season. Add some peeled and chopped apples, sugar, a bit of orange peel and orange juice. Put the lid on your slow cooker and cook low and slow for a whole eight hours. It’s that easy! The warm, rich scent of simmering cranberries and citrus that will fill your house for Thanksgiving day is just an added bonus.
