With pears, browned butter and a sugar cookie crust, these delicious bars are a foolproof fall favorite!
To me, there are few desserts that outdo the bar. It’s a classic and simple way to bring a bunch of flavors into one serving. And they’re super easy to make, too! We all love to break out that 13x9-inch baking pan for a quick and satisfying dessert. And these Brown Butter-Pear Sugar Cookie Bars are a great way to take it to the next level! Whether you make them for your family or to give away to friends, you’ll be amazed by how many seasonal flavors stack up in one bite.
Be sure to have all your ingredients on hand. I love using Betty Crocker® Sugar Cookie mix for the cookie base. It cuts down the time and effort but adds a new dimension to the dessert. Say goodbye to boring, tasteless crusts!
Prepare the cookie mix and press it evenly into the bottom of a prepared baking pan. Bake the crust just until set and lightly golden–you don’t want to overbake it or it will burn when you return it to the oven.
Meanwhile, brown the butter. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and stir constantly until the butter turns a deep golden brown color, about 5 minutes. (Watch out–this happens quickly!). I adore brown butter for its rich nutty flavor. It just adds a little something to any dessert.
Place sliced pears in a single layer on top of the cookie crust.
After whisking together the brown butter topping, pour it evenly over the pears.
Bake until golden brown and baked through. Remove from oven and cool completely.
Slice and serve. This recipe definitely “raises the bar” on desserts!
