Add some sparkle to your holiday gatherings with homemade Brandied Cherries. They’re quick and easy and make great gifts!
Brandied Cherries are a great way to enjoy the fabulous flavor of fresh fruit all year long. Use them in cocktails or serve them over ice cream. During the holidays, fill a jar with the cheery cherries, gussy up the outside of the jar with a label and ribbon and voila…you have a fantastic gift from the kitchen!
To make Brandied Cherries, start off by pitting the cherries. To save time, I recommend using a cherry pitter. If you do not own one, you can purchase one in your local big box store. A cherry pitter is worth its weight in gold. Bonus points because it can also be used to pit olives! Next, make a simple syrup, add the liqueur and cherries, and transfer it all to jars. It’s really that easy. The hardest part will be waiting the 4-6 weeks until they can be eaten. You’ll know when they’re ready because the cherries will no longer smell or taste like pure liqueur…they’ll taste sweet and smooth. |
