I'm not sure about the other reviews that say they had to cut the cheesecake in a lot more than slightly to get it to swirl. The recipe specifically says to cut in the cheesecake to MAKE (create) a slight swirl. NOT to slightly cut it in. Two different things. (The swirl is suppose to be just a little swirl, not really swirled like a marble cake.) Yes the salt should be added to taste, not everyone is use to a lot of salt, especially a coarse salt. Otherwise enjoy!!!

I like the concept of this recipe, but the amount of salt called for is way too much. It was too salty & my family couldn't even eat them. I had to scrape off the caramel & salt completely and add more caramel without the salt. They liked it that way much better. If you want to try the recipe with all the ingredients, I highly suggest drastically reducing the amount of salt to 2 tsp or just to taste. To get the cheesecake to swirl I had to cut the knife through more than slightly. I would make this again, just without the salt.

The cheesecake didn't really "swirl" for me, so much as form a top layer, so I would recommend pouring half the brownie batter in, then half the cheesecake swirl, then repeat. Overall, this was way more trouble than it was worth, in my opinion. It tastes exactly the same as a box of ready-made cheesecake brownies would, with salted caramel topping. If I want to repeat this recipe, I'll just go that route next time.
