A thin layer of fruity jam hides between the frosting and the browned butter-enhanced cake.

In response to attemptingtocook's comments about the frosting being gritty: it sounds like you used granulated sugar instead of powdered sugar. Frosting will have that gritty texture if you do not use powdered sugar. Hope this helps you!

RE attemptingtocook: When making a brown sugar frosting be sure to use low heat and stir constantly until the sugar is melted. If your brown sugar is older it may be slightly dry and won't dissolve properly.

I think the cake is delicous, however, when i made the frosting, it was like biting into pure sugar. what did i do wrong? I eliminated the strawberry jam. How do melt the sugar so its not gritty?
