I saw this recipe and thought it would be something that I could make for work that would be easy. It turns out that it wasn't as easy as I thought. I couldn't find the black licorice laces, so I had to use red. The icing inside the cookie wasn't soft enough to push the licorice laces in, so I has to open the cookie, spread some frosting, put the legs on, and close it back up. They turned out cute, in the end, but I was disappointed with the orginal recipe.

Made these for an event a our local Ronald McDonald House. They are soooo cute and easy as pie. I took the advise of another poster and took off the top, put in the legs, added a drop of icing and put the lid back on. Because I could only find red center oreos, mine had winter scenes on them. I covered the whole top with a little frosting and then stuck in the eyes. Will absolutely make these again!

This is a fun, quick snack, but I put a whole twist on it and brought everyone in on the fun! My daughters birthday is in October and I had to have these! So I purchased mini M&M's-and a lot of them and regular licorce bc it is impossible to find the string kind~cut them before the party, got plenty of gel icing tubes, had a huge spread of cookies and let the children and moms make their own! It was great and kept everyone entertained for some time!

These are very easy and cute. I made them for my daughter's 4th grade class for a boy who loves spiders! Couldn't find the string licorce so we cut regular licorice into thin strips. We found if we took the cookie apart, put the legs in, and added a dab of the chocolate frosting that worked the easiest. Will make again!!

OMG! I love this recipe! I love the idea of being able to make these up quick and just go in less then an hour. I couldnt believe it when i first saw it, and it really came in handy when, a night before a halloween party i had to provide for, I could just whip it up, get dressed, and go! Thank you Betty Crocker!

Was told about this cute idea by a North Hollywood third grade teacher who does this craft with her students every Halloween. Why should kids have all the fun?!!! lol Finally located string licorice at a candy store after looking unsuccessfully at all the major grocery stores. Also found that cheaper cookies (oreo knock off''s) work just as well, although their inside frosting is a tad harder.
