tasted fine, but the cake never really got "cooked". it was super mushy and when we finally served after trying to cook it for more than double the time it was more like apple pumpkin soup.

Made this recipe for Christmas. Did not go over well with anyone. Very bland. Ended up throwing the leftovers in the garbage. I don't plan on making this again.

this was very good and easy to make. here are the changes i made to the recipe; i used 2 cans of the caramel apple pie filling, and 2 cups of a boxed spice cake, so i left off the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and baking soda, it took about 2 hrs and 30 minutes maybe a little longer. thanks for the recipe it is a winner!!

I tried this recipe last night and I LOVED IT!!! I did tweek it a bit after reading some of the reviews. I used 3 eggs instead of the egg substitute, I doubled the cinnamon and added 1/2 tsp of pumpkin pie spice and used a small can of crushed pineapple. I also used 2 cans of apple pie filling. I used the paper towel recommendation and I got side tracked and left it to bake for 2 1/2 hours but it seemed ok. Used my parents as taste testers and they loved it. I will be making this again. Very quick and easy to make. Definately add vanilla ice cream...it just adds to the experience.

I am a die hard lover of pumpkin desserts. The first time I tried this, followed the recipe exactly; however, I tried it again w/2 cans of apple pie filling, tweaked it a little with more spice - cardamom, cloves, and liked it a lot better. The cake is dense, but that did not bother me, as it tastes really good, but it definitely needed the extra can of pie filling. Was really easy to make, and I think I will follow some other's examples and use real eggs the next time I make it. Also note, I did not have ice cream or whipped cream for either occasion, and I think that definitely needs to be included.

I made this at a campout in a dutch oven. I disappeared and was enjoyed by all the scouts. I used a spice cake mix because that is easier to pack, extra spices and real eggs. I will make this again

this was really good! my dinner party loved! i doubled the cinnamon and used 1/2 teaspoon of pumkpin spice and nutmeg. i sprinkled the spices on the filling before i put the pumpkin mix on top of it. i would totally double the apple pie filling if you are feeding more then 3 people. i will be making this again.

Just a note: Do NOT double the nutmeg. It was too much! I'll stick with just doubling the cinnamon (2 tsp), and also sprinkling some cinnamon on top of the pie filling.-Lori in WI.
