Okay, this is where I love recipes...you can always tweek. Look at this work of art. What do you see? Lavender! So guess what? I added lavender to the darkest layers. I love the taste and smell of lavender in baking. WOW...didn't want to eat it...too pretty and I didn't want the aroma to end! Thx Bree!

If the frosting intimidates you, just use Betty Crocker Homestyle Fluffy White Frosting mix. It will give the same results without the hassle. I use it for angel food cake all the time.

I made this cake for my daughters 15th birthday. It was a big hit - however I put raspberry jam inbetween the layers - it did get a bit lop-sided, but its cake, and cake is always good. I will make this again!

Recipe did not state to 'trim' layers and couldn't get page of instructions to load. Frosting was a disaster. No guidance on how long it could take to reach temp or if it should be cooked at med or med/high heat. Ended up locating a recipe elsewhere for that. The cake is beautiful though.
