for those of you who say this is a cake---are you using a cake pan? and not a sheet pan? (cookie sheet with sides) because if you use a 9x13 pan with deep sides that is a cake pan but it say 9x13x1 that is a sheet cake pan (cookie sheet) this is great though made it gluten free though because this sounded better then the gluten free one using the cake mix

I am not sure if the recipe had a typo but I do know that Philladelphia cream chees use to come in both a 3 oz. and 8 oz. package...I am not sure if they make it in the smaller size any longer - but if this an older recipe then they more then likely mean 3 oz. Not sure if that helps or not - either way - can you ever have to much cream cheese?

Made this tonight...was a HUGE hit with my family. I agree with luv2bake11, it is a cake and NOT a bar. Really good flavor and texture, very moist. As for the Cream Cheese Frosting, there must be a typo. You definitely need an entire package of Cream Cheese, we used the 1/3 less Fat one...no difference in taste, but helps on the calories and fat. The recipie calls for 3 ounces, but the package is 8 ounces. I checked with several of the other Pumpkin Bar recipies and they all call for 3 oz. Use the whole package, you won't be sorry, super creamy and full of flavor is the frosting that way!

Delicious but definitely NOT a bar. It was a cake plain and simple. But if you want to make a pumpkin cake this one is awesome!!

I made the bars last night. I am about to frost them, but I have a question. The frosting ingredient list indicates a package of cream cheese, but it also indicates 3 ounces. My package (and most that are sold in my supermarket) is 8 ounces. Is this a typo (that the 3 should be an 8) or should I measure out 3 ounces from my package and try to find a smaller package next time?

I made this recipe last Saturday - shared it with three different people (a recuperating friend going through chemo, guests in my home, and my financial advisor's office, MUST keep him happy!) and I had three requests for the recipe!! I did tweak the recipe a wee bit - not a fan of ginger or nutmeg in baked products - I bumped up the cinnamon a bit. This recipe is a 'keeper and a 'go to' recipe in my kitchen!!
