Jump-start Halloween cookie making with a cookie mix. A few extra candies are all you need.

Made these for Halloween and they were great, however I used my own peanut butter cookie recipe instead of the mix (I tried the sugar cookie mix once, and it was nasty so I stay away from all the cookie mixes now -- sorry Betty). For the legs, I ended up pushing the licorice under the melted Rolo -- very easy, looked fine and it held up well. Huge hit with the kids!

These cookies were really good and so cute!! They were a big hit at work. It did take some practice getting the legs into the carmel though. One criticism I heard was that the carmel was too hard to eat. I agree that a peanut butter cup might be better. :-)

These cookies took some time to construct but they will make you giggle when they are finished. My grandkids loved them and that made it worthwhile for me. Will definitely make them again>

We made these for a neighborhood Halloween party. They tasted and looked great. We received alot of compliments on them. All were gone so none to bring home. The adults even loved them. Drawback, a little tedious to make and hard to get the licorice into the rolo. Great for a once a year treat and would do again. We used mini-m & m's for the eyes. Very cute & yummy!

Just made these and they turned out so cute! The chocolate covered caramels worked out great. If you stay with the recipe and don't buy Rolo's the caramel is almost runny not hard inside the candies. After the cookies cool completely w/ the caramels on top the licorice pokes right thru the sides and the caramel helps hold them in. I couldn't find black licorice strings and used the cherry pull & peel instead but dipped them in black food coloring mixed with vanilla extract (don't use water to thin coloring the alcohol in the vanilla extract evaporates leaving the color). Give them a minute to dry and they're ready to go!

Haven't made them yet,but agree with maybe using peanut butter cups. Kids with braces can't have the caramel or the licorice, but that is easy to pick off if needed.

I think I would mini peanut butter cups. The heads might be bigger, but who cares!

YUM. I am having a party for Halloween, and I made these to practice and find out if they are worth making. I have to admit, those were delicious. The ROLOS were delightful, although I'm not a huge Black Licorice fan. Overall, they are creative, fun, and taste very good.
