I have had problems making sugar cookies so I avoid them but with 7 grand kids coming I wanted to give them somthing to do that would help with Christmas. So I tryed this cookie recipe and it is wonderful. I forgot to get the shortning so I used unsalted butter for the shortning it worked well. Thank you for posting this recipe. I will be teaching my grandkids this recipe so it can be handed down.

Not real impressed. Dough was very soft and didn't really make good cookies.

Love, love, love this recipe. I've been using it every Christmas for the past 5 years! It's the best recipe I've found that still tastes like a sugar cookie without the hours of refrigeration time, which is 2 thumbs up for my kiddos who can be on the impatient side when it comes to using cookie cutters. I recommend this to any mom who doesn't have the time to spend in the kitchen making the perfect sugar cookie!

This is a great recipe. I altered it a little. I rolled these into balls and then in sugar. I baked them for 13 minutes. It made 28 cookies and they were excellent!!

Dont stick to just the yellow cake mix this works great with just about any mix, we are particular to the spice cake and chocolate works great.

This recipe was easy to put together and had a delicious result. I had problems with the dough being too sticky. I found that kneading some flour into the dough helped keep it from sticking to the work-surface. I used a lot of additional flour, which may have been a mistake because cookies came out with a cracked look. It wasn''t a problem after icing them though. Overall the taste was great and reminded me exactly of the refrigerator roll-out cookies my mom made when I was a child.
