Great recipe. I made a couple of minor adjustments to suit my taste. However, if I were not a veteran cook, I might have been confused by the directions for the onions in the first and last steps.

This was very yummy but I did tweek just a little. I too used salt free broth. I also used pre-cooked bacon and sauted in a nonstick pain with the onions. Finally, I substituted plain greek yogurt for the sour cream. I will make this again.

I made a similar version of the soup based on this and another recipe (slow cook cheesy potato soup from Betty Crocker). I did not add that much milk and used unsalted Progresso chicken broth, forgot to mix the ham and skipped the sour cream. But still really yummy :) Here are the pix and modifications I made (also, this is big size meal, I cut down the size a lot) http://www.chaisfood.com/2013/02/cheesy-potato-soup.html It is going to be in our regular dinner list ;)

This was a great soup, very rich and filling. Made a couple alterations: I substituted (2) cups heavy cream for the milk at the end and I took a masher to the kettle of potatoes. Didn't completely mash it, left chunks. Took it to work and everyone still asks for the recipe....will definately make it again! Best Loaded Potato soup I've found!

Very good soup and easy to make. I added chopped celery and carrot. Used half the sour cream. I like my soup thicker and chunkier, next time I will cut the potatoes in bigger pieces, cook them and add them at the end, when the soup is almost ready. My husband had 3 bowls of this
