Refreshing! A great lemon cookie treat made easy with cake mix and frosting. They're great with lemonade on a warm summer day.

I followed the instructions here and added just under a 1/4 cup of water. They came out perfect!

I really love anything lemon so I wanted to try these as an alternative to cake. It was worth it! So good and chewy. Lemony goodness :))

fantastic! made them for a christmas party and loved watching people go back for more! Did not need more water- not crispy unless you overbake.

Great cookies, especially with extra orange flavor! I added 1 TBSP of McCormick Orange Extract and some food coloring to make them orange. I used vegetable oil instead of the shortening and 2 eggs rather than just 1, hoping they'd turn out more cakey and they did! I followed the recipe above for the rest of the ingredients. I mixed them using my kitchen aid mixer and started with only half the cake mix and all the wet ingredients. Unlike other reviews, my dough turned out fine, not too dry or crumbly, so maybe the vegetable oil rather than shortening was the key. The mix was pretty wet, but still doughy - not thin like a cake batter. I used a melon baller dipped in powdered sugar and scooped them on a cookie sheet and baked them at 350 for 6 to 7 minutes. Then I added orange extract and food coloring to the betty crocker lemon frosting and put a generous spread of it on each cookie and put sprinkles on top. They are fabulous!

I did not add any additional liquids, but I did treat the thick dough like sugar cookie dough. I rolled each cookie into a small ball, then I flattened each with the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar. I used vanilla frosting rather than lemon. They turned out fantastic. I will definitely make them again.

My husband and I love lemon cookies and this recipe looked right up our alley. Like the other reviewers, I had to add a little bit of water to the batter before baking. When they were done, they looked more like mashed potatoes than actual cookies. However, they tasted WONDERFUL. My husband absolutely loves them and they were incredibly easy to make!

It is my impression that there was a liquid ingredient left out. These were only slightly moistened after adding and beating for the prescribed amount of time, similar to a pie crust before the water is added. Large dry chunks of 'dough' (not batter). I added 1/4 c water so they could be spooned onto baking sheet. They were lemony.

I thought the dough looked pretty dry so i added 1/4 cup water. These cookies are too soft and salty for my taste.
