A creative twist on the traditional birthday cake. Kids will love eating their cake in a cone instead of on a plate!

Accidentally bought jumbo cones. Worked out perfectly for us, because my daughter wanted ice-cream in the cones. So we filled the cones partway with icecream and left them in the freezer overnight, layered frosting over that, and then inserted a cupcake. Next, frosted them like the picture, and they were awesome!

This was awesome!! However, I think I filled up the cups a little too high, but I just trimmed the edges off. Also, do NOT try to use a spatula to apply the icing; your sh** will fall APART. I used a little ziploc bag with a hole cut in the corner, but next time I will definitely invest in an actual icing applicator thingy. Super awesome cupcakes, and I was able to make them look good too!!

Betty Crocker, THANK YOU for this recipe! THIS is the way to make ice cream cone cupcakes! I tried this way and the way where you fill the cone with batter. The other way flopped and these were beautiful!

To: OnemamaOnebabe, Try a deep gift box lid with cut X's (for placement of each cone) for easy transport. Just make sure they are far enough apart so the tops of the cones do not touch and the lid is deep enough so they don't wobble. Keep the bottom of the gift box on before you start putting the finished cones in and TADA! (I decorate the boxes first or cover with gift wrapping.) Have fun!

I DID FIND THAT IF YOU BAKE THE BATTER INTO THE CUPCAKES (vs upside down ontop like recipe states) AND ONLY POUR ABOUT 2/3 FULL - that is the best cupcake ice cream cone that comes out. I actually made a few and baked just 2 or 3 to test my skills before I filled all cones and baked it - party is tomorrow so I don't have anything else to make if I ruin these! They baked great at 325 for 20 minutes and I lowered the oven shelf down so the cones aren't right near the broiler... keeping it from burning the tops! The only thing I could not figure is how to transport these babies with icing!!! I might have to get back to you on that one! I loved this recipe and remember my Mom making this for my birthday years... AND YEARS ago... now I am making it for my 2 year old's party.

I have made these before and I guess that I filled them too much because all of mine overflowed and did not rise. We live in a High Elevaltion area, des anyone have any tips? I am going to try the upside down version to take into school for my daughter's birthday. I will see how they turn out. Fingers crossed!!!
