These are a long time family favorite and tradition. Instead of almond paste we put marachino cherries, choc chips, coconut, walnuts...Put 1,2 or 3 in the middle. A surprise in every 1!

I made these last year and they were a big hit. Instead of the almond paste center, I used milk and white chocolate chunks. Also, instead of the frosting, I used melted white and milk chocolate and dipped the cookies in it and let set in the fridge (had to reheat the chocolate a few times, but it worked out great and seemed to be easier than mixing the frosting).

An f.y.i., I read that others had problems with the white icing turning brown. It is probably b/c of the vanilla. You can buy clear vanilla extract, and it will not be brown.

I've made these cookies for the past few years changing the insides each time. I've replaced the almond paste inside with choc covered caramels, mini pb cups or solid chocolates. The kids love squishing the dough around the candies. They're a perfect sized cookie and the recipe makes enough for my cookie swap. It's a great reliable recipe and is a keeper for me!

I made these to pass out to coworkers last Christmas. They seemed to go over well - everyone loved the almond flavoring. The only tricky part about them was the frosting step, as it was a little messy. I would definitely make these again as they were such a big hit, and easy, too!

Easy to make and very tasty. Though the almond paste wasn''t such a big hit with the rest of my family, my parents did like the after taste of it. I didn''t use chocolate because I feared having 7 ounces of baking chocolate at home and not knowing what to do with it, like Karen. Plus, the frosting didn''t come out white like in the picture so I ended up covering all the frosting in sprinkles. I''m planning on using maraschino cherries and chocolate next time.

Very easy recipe to follow. The cookies turned out just like the picture, very cute and nice for giving. The recipe only yielded about 4 dozen for me but they tasted delicious. For the chocolate frosting, instead of melting chocolate, I just substituted two tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa. Also, instead of almond paste, I placed Rolo candies inside the cookies and it turned out well.

I remember making these cookies in home ec clas in 1956. They were yummy then, and still are one of the easiest and most delightful cookies I have ever made. Since I am in Hawaii, I put a macadamia nut in the centers of mine. Chocolate kisses are good, too. They are the best. Instead of spreading the icing on, I was taught to swirl the tops of the bon bons right in the icing.

These are SO YUMMY!!! I omitted the almond paste tho. I dislike almond flavouring and so does my family and they were still delicious. I put hershey kisses inside half of them for a little suprise!
