    Heat oven to 350°F. Grease the bottom of a 13x9-inch pan with cooking spray.

    In a large bowl, cut the butter into the cookie mix using a fork or pastry blender. Stir in the egg until mixture is crumbly.

    Reserve 1 1/2 cups of the cookie mixture. Press remaining cookie mixture into the bottom of the pan. Bake 15 minutes. Sprinkle chopped apple evenly over the crust. In a small bowl, mix caramel topping and flour; drizzle over the apples. Sprinkle the reserved cookie mixture over the apples.

    Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely, about 2 hours. For bars, cut into 9 rows by 4 rows.
