This awesome chocolate dessert separates into two layers as it bakes; one turns into a yummy fudge sauce and the other a moist cake. Serve it warm topped with vanilla, coffee or dulce de leche cream.

Haven't tried the recipe yet as I could not believe it did not require eggs. Is this so?

To Mrs. Don, if I were to try and do individual servings, I think I would put all of the dry ingredients into a big measuring cup (I have an 8 cup capacity) and then from there I would divide the dry ingredients into a muffin pan. Then you can divide the hot water equally among the muffin containers. Don't know if this will work, but it seems logical to me. Good luck. :)

I remember my mom making this dessert when we were kids. It isn't pretty......but it is so delicious especially with some vanilla ice cream and a dollop of whipped cream. I lost my copy of her recipe so I am going to give this one a whirl.

Will you please post the nutritional information? I would like to know what size piece would be 250 calories or less. Thank you.

Is it possible to make these in individual bowls? If so, how?

I have not tried this but it sounds wonderful. In response to the person wondering why the Cocoa isn't as good as years past. It is because of all the pesticides being used. I would suggest trying Organic Cocoa. For the person with the Splenda idea...I do hope you reconsider this...Splenda is full of chemicals...not at all healthy for you!

I have always made this for years too. It was my favorite quick recipe. For some reason though in recent years when I have tried it it just did not have the same chocolaty flavor. I have tried different cocoa, etc. Does anyone have thoughts on this? I cannot understand why the chocolate is not as good.

I was just at a Pampered Chef party where they made one of these using cake mix and frosting. I am going to try this using Splenda brown sugar and Splenda sugar. Will take away more calories and should be much healthier than the one at the PC party. I'll let you know.

This is a dessert that I have made for years. I usually double the recipe and bake in a 9"X13" pan. The recipe I use calls for chopped walnuts in the batter and I think that adds a lot. It is definitely a fabulous dessert. Incidentally I often serve it without whipped cream or ice cream and it's still incredible.

Overall, the dessert was very yummy. Even though I followed the directions exactly (measurements and all) the bottem was cakelike and the top was the runny part. Not sure why this happened, even double checked the directions. Will make again due to the deliciousness!!!
