This is my go-to holiday mashed potato recipe. It's easy to assemble and cook, reheats well, and is full of garlicky goodness. What more could I ask of mashed potatoes? (As another reviewer noted, it is very important to allow your chilled dish to sit out for a bit before putting it in your hot oven, because it may shatter otherwise).

This recipe is awesome, but i think i made it even better. I added one 8oz. container of cream cheese straight into the potatoes while mashing them. Delectable!

I made these ahead for a dinner for 14 people. When taking them out of the fridge, I put them directly in the oven to heat up, and my dish broke completely through into many pieces. Needless to say we did not have potatoes at that meal. Be sure you have an oven proof dish and let it get to room temperature before placing in oven.
