From Betty's Soul Food Collection... Wrap up the fun with a chocolate twist on traditional Russian tea cakes. Surprise! There's chocolate in the center of each cookie.

I made these last weekend for church. It was a big hit and many asked how they were made. One women asked for the recipe saying it would be perfect for her women's get together. I was suprised at how fast it was to make them. It went a lot faster with my daughter helping unwrap the kisses.

My sister and I just made some of these cookies for gifts to send out to family. Very happy with the results, making more batches this week. Very decadent cookies, easy to make, I'm sure these will be a holiday favorite for years to come.

I made these for friends and teachers for Christmas presents. You will get the best results if you use butter. Margarine will cause the cookie to flatten in the oven. I used half vanilla and half almond extract. Everyone loved them and several asked for the recipe. My kids asked me to leave out the cocoa and use only vanilla extract for a change, they were also very good! Some people might find the almond extract too strong.

I made these for a dinner party and was so pround of the work I put into them. Even though the sugar cookie mix was easy, it wasn't easy to wrap 60 kisses. Unfortunately, no one ate them. For whatever reason, they weren't appealing to the guests. I used powdered sugar on some and left others plain and alternated them on the serving tray. Ironically, one other guest made the "Christmas snickerdoodles" and people ate them up. My husband and kids loved them...

These are wonderful and quick! Made them for Christmas cookie plates. Have to hurry and package them up, because they are disappearing now that kids are home from school.

These are sooo good!! Instead of using one regular size hershey kiss the grocery store I shop at has unwrapped smaller hershey kisses in the bulk department section. I used 2 smaller kisses as opposed to one big kiss. This is a nice variation to go with the "regular" Russian tea cakes I make every Christmas. I will make these every year also :)
