I was disappointed. The melting did not go well at all, the chocolate got to hard. I used baking squares instead and they melted perfectly.

RE darkstarv21: I’m sorry you were disappointed in this recipe. For the success of this recipe be sure to use real semi sweet chocolate chips and not the chocolate flavored baking chips which have less butter fat and have a more waxy texture and mouth feel. If you would like more chocolate for dipping you can increase the amount of chips to ≤ cup without affecting the outcome of the recipe.

I made these with shortening, and they were flat out disgusting, not to mention they amount of chocolate chips to number of strawberries was not enough.

Fantastic absolutely fantastic! I used oil instead of solid shortening and they came out fine. Keep them cold the best you can.

I recommend only using solid shortening. I make these every year and they are delicious but I never use oil only solid shortening. It does not let the chocolate on it get soft.
