great cookies...making them for years...to add another taste, I add cinnamon or colored sugar or sprinkles to xxx sugar before rolling. Some people just add the cinnamon to the recipe...depends on the taste.

I have been making this recipe with my family for years. It is a great recipe and turns out wonderfully. Very simple. Tigger5047... I do not recommend rolling these cookies in the powdered sugar first and then freezing... these cookies tend to absorb the powdered sugar if they are rolled early... I wouldn't even leave them in the fridge for too long (I had a friend do this, I did tell her not too, but the cookies had to be rolled again and didn't crack). But I think you could probably roll them, freeze them, and then try to roll them. You may need to let them soften a bit though, as the sugar may not stick if they are solidly frozen. Good luck in you experiments with it... I hope you like these!!!!

Can I freezed these cookies after I bake them? Will the powdered sugar be gummy when I thaw them out. I am trying to bake cookies ahead of time.

Love, love, LOVE these cookies! I whipped up a batch of chocolate chip cookies and baked those while waiting for these to chill. Big hit!

I read all the reviews and since this was my first time baking these cookies, I decided to follow the recipe exactly and tweak it later if need be. Well, the cookies were a huge hit, just the way the recipe was written. No tweaking necessary. They came out perfect, were super easy and they are definitely a new favorite in my house.

Absolutely wonderful. The hardest part about these cookies is waiting the 3 hours for them to chill before we can bake and eat. I have to make a dbl batch for my crew.

These fudgy cookies were so easy and the kids were able to help make them for our 2011 Christmas Cookie Day. My neice LOVED the fact that they look like turtle shells when they are done. They also travel well.
