The step images were meant as a guide for scone making. The Bisquick recipe offered already has the fat incorporated in the mix saving a step. If you want to make scones with butter as in the images search for Gold Medal Classic Scones and use the variation at the bottom with chocolate chips. Sorry for the confusion and Happy Baking!

I also want to know why the photo's show butter, describe using it for a better texture but then the recipe doesn't have it in it?

Super easy and super good. I add more chocolate chips and sprinkle a fair amount of sugar on the top. They are great with the toffee chips and chocolate chips. Also did a "zebra" one with white chocolate and milk chocolate chips.

I love scones. I was skeptical but this recipe was incredibly easy & turned out perfectly. I doubt I'll ever buy a scone again. I can imagine leaving out the chocolate chips & sprinkling with cinnamon sugar - the possibilities here are endless. Thank you for such a great recipe!

These were so quick and easy to make. Very good warm and even good later as a snack. I've never made scones and I'll definitely make again and try some of the other recipes too.

These came out much better than I thought they would. I thought they'd taste like Bisquick. They don't. Super easy to make. I added almost a cup of chocolate chips though since you can never have enough chocolate. I think next time I'll add some powdered sugar on top.

Very easy to make indeed! Not a bad scone. I like the white chocolate apricot scones on this site better. But I will likely make these again.
