These are really good, but I do not use the cake mix. Instead, I add the 3 Tablespoons of Chai Tea Latte mix to the recipe for Yellow Cake in the Good Housekeeping cookbook (fox60 did that answer your question?). I imagine you could use any yellow cake recipe that you like. I skipped the white chocolate chips in the frosting. It made them way too sweet. And once again, I did not use a premade frosting. I just made a standard buttercream frosting, and piped the frosting on with a large star tip, then dusted the tops with cinnamon. When I take these to parties everyone loves them, and I'm often asked which bakery they came from!

I may be missing something in the directions, but what do you do with the Chai tea mix. Does it need to be diluted,or does it just go in as powder?

I've made this a couple of times, and it ALWAYS gets rave reviews. So much so that I used the cake part to make cakeballs...which were just as much of a hit, if not more so. When talking about recipes with people, I often mention this as one that gets the best response (and is my favorite). Thank you to the genius that created it.

I had been wanting to try a Chai cupcake so we made this recipe. It was awesome. I took some to work and to the neighbors, complete hit. I will definitely be making these again and have shared the recipe with some friends. Thanks for a fantastic recipe.

Did not use the cake mix or pre-made icing - made a yellow cake batter and icing from scratch. Followed the recipe otherwise, and they turned out great. People were asking for the recipe, and some people said they looked and tasted so good they thought they were store bought! Will definitely make again.

I made these for my husband's birthday using some generic, Kroger brand powdered chai mix. I made cream cheese frosting. Overall, they were delicious.

I made these for my mom and I, we are HUGE Chai fans. They taste great!!! I searched high and low for the Chai mix but had no luck. However I found Chai tea bags, so I brewed some Chai tea and instead of using 1-1/3 cups of water I substituted with the actual tea. Amazing!! My mom asked me to make more today. Im waiting for them to finish now :)

I might use a little more chai mix next time because I found the chai flavor to be a little too subtle. Very good with coffee in the morning. I really liked the icing, but canned cream cheese icing sounds good as well.
