This is the recipe that my mother and grandmother used also. Other than using a little less salt, this is a big favorite for all of our families. Way, way, better than anything out of a bag or box! Also, I know that some people do use eggs in stuffing, but that is NOT a flavor any of us enjoy. I think it really a matter of personal preference. So don't be afraid to give this a try.

I was very disappointed in this recipe. This did not turn out anything like stuffing/dressing; it was more like semi-butter flavored croutons. Will be deleting this recipe and finding a new one for next time. PS I only chose a rating of 1 because it wouldn't let me leave it at 0 :(

I have made the original recipe for years. This one has been modified. I'm also wondering why you didn't include the Pecan Stuffing variation that is in the cookbook.

Dear Betty, In my opinion, Your recipe for your bread stuffing needs a lot of help. Simply tell your readers to open up a box of stove top dressing it would taste better... Or give them a real recipe. Sorry to be so negative but with out the proper(ingredients)seasonings,eggs,broth/liquid onion celery. Some recipes very.To me this recipe is not true bread stuffing recipe.

This recipe needs poultry seasoning. Can's have stuffing without it!

Hi Betty thank you for this recipe. I love your recipes. This is the first year I am hosting and making my turkey and side dishes. Pretty beginner! My questions is about soft bread. Do you mean that we can use any bread??

This is so easy to make and it tastes so much better than the store bought stuff. I make the low-fat version using less butter and chicken broth and it's very tasty. Recommend.

I have been making this recipe for at least 25 years. When I ask what can I bring? Everyone wants this stuffing! I'm not a super cook or anything like that, but... love to make this!

I make mine almost the same way but instead I boil my vegetables and I use eggs when I mix all my ingredients together and I also use chicken broth so it would not be so dry and I use the water from the vegetables and I do not cover it up.
