Baked this cake for a family dinner. Everyone loved it. Three of my extremely health conscious guests ate two pieces each. What a simple but divine dessert.

Question for those who have made this cake: Do you turn it out of the pan before or after you add the milk? It seems like it would absorb the milk better if left in the pan, but then would be hard to remove. I am making this cake for a birthday and need to frost the whole thing, so I can't leave it in the pan for serving. Thanks!

My son, now 15, asks for this for his birthday cake every year since I first got the recipe about 3 years ago.

Outstanding. This has become the cake my family begs me to make, and I've been asked for the recipe every time I've served it to guests or brought it to an event. Like many other reviewers, I substituted non-dairy whipped topping for the canned frosting (which was much too heavy and cloyingly sweet on top of such an already rich, sweet cake).

I made this for a cinco de mayo potluck and I wanted to try something aunthentic. I loved this cake. It was so nice to try (and succeed!) at something new and exciting. It was also quite delicious and looked beautiful.

Wonderful! I make a coconut cake that is very similar; With prepared cake poke with holes sweetened condensed milk and cream of coconut, topped with cool whip and sprinkled with shredded coconut. After having this I have decided the Coconut Milk is much better and not as heavy or sticky as the cream of coconut. Thanks for the recipe!!!
