Jazz up a concession-stand favorite with a little bit of sweet and a little bit of spicy. Perfect for cozy nights in with your favorite people and movies.
I am a huge fan of the sweet and spicy combination. This recipe combines one of my favorites – kettle corn, with a little bit of a spicy added in for that extra kick. The spicy flavors aren’t overwhelming (you can always add in more chili powder if you like things really spicy), but I kept it so that there was just a hint of something extra in the background. This popcorn was addictive…even the kids loved it!!
Here’s how you make it. All you need is some vegetable oil, sugar, chili powder and popcorn.

Add your vegetable oil to a large pot and let it heat up.

Once it’s hot, stir in the sugar and the chili powder.

Stir in the popcorn, then put the lid on your pan.

Here’s the important part: Start shaking the pan. You’ll want to shake it the entire time so that the popcorn and the sugar doesn’t burn. Keep shaking, and after a few minutes, you’ll hear the popcorn start to pop. When the popping has slowed to every 2 or 3 seconds, pour the popcorn into a large bowl. Let it cool, and stir occasionally to break up any large chunks.
