Hand Shaped Cookies

Hand Shaped Cookies

Hand-shaped cookies require you to shape cookie dough like you would for peanut butter cookies or Russian tea cakes. Try these easy-handling tips to make cookie shaping go smoothly.

  • If dough is too soft to handle, cover and refrigerate about 1 hour or until firm.
  • Cookie dough still sticking to your palms? Try this quick trick: Occasionally wet your hands with cold water when shaping cookie dough into balls.
  • For even baking, make sure cookies are of the same shape and size.

When making cookies that have to be rolled in sugar-cinnamon mixture, I have found that using a empty 8oz. container is extremely useful for doing appox. 3 cookies at a time instead of just one. Put your sugar and cinnamon in container-put cookies in, put on the lid and shake gently. This idea does save time.
