These cookies are great for holiday baking and giving. But they are so good that you may not want to give them away!
When the weather starts to cool off, I get the itch to get back in my kitchen and start baking again. One of my very favorite little treats to whip up is Browned Butter Pecan Balls. You may have had a similar cookie, but I don’t know if you have ever had them quite like this.
It’s a rich butter cookie that has a texture similar to shortbread with a powdered sugar coating. The difference in my recipe is the browned butter pecans.
If you have ever made a cookie like this, it’s probably a similar recipe and contains some of the same ingredients. However, before you dismiss this and say, “Oh, I make a cookie like this,” check out my little secret.
I discovered that browning the butter with the nuts gives them an irresistible nutty crunch that I actually dream about!
First, I melt the butter in a saucepan along with the chopped pecans. Once cool, I add the dry mix and shape the cookies. After baking, the warm balls get rolled in powdered sugar. After they cool, the balls are again rolled in powdered sugar.
These cookies are terrific for a holiday party and make a wonderful gift. I usually pack them into a cookie tin, separating the layers with parchment paper.
Trust me, if you make these cookies this season, you won’t be disappointed. And everyone will want to know why they taste extra yummy!
