A marble-size, golden brown nut with a buttery-rich, slightly sweet flavor. Macadamia nuts are native to Australia, but many people associate them with their transplanted home, Hawaii (the largest exporter) and California. A tough nut to crack, it's usually sold shelled, either roasted or raw.
Because of their high fat content, macadamia nuts can become rancid easily, so store them in the refrigerator or freezer.
