Flour, Whole Wheat
Whole wheat flour is a medium-fine granulation from the complete wheat kernel (bran, germ and endosperm). It gives a nutty flavor and dense texture to breads and other baked goods. Baked goods made with whole wheat flour rise less than those made with all-purpose flour. The Betty Crocker Kitchens recommend using Gold Medal® Whole Wheat Flour for best results.
How to Use
Do not sift whole wheat flour, because sifting will clog the sifter, and the flavorful, nutritious particles will be lost. Using recipes specifically developed for whole wheat flour ensures success. However, whole wheat flour can be incorporated into all-purpose flour recipes by using half whole wheat and half all-purpose flour.
